From Cobblestone Streets to Global Perspectives
Vilnius International School is host to over 500 students. We converge with our Lithuanian friends and colleagues to create a learning community tucked away in a quiet corner of Vilnius Old Town, but alert to the active vibe of this forward thinking city.
The student population hails from over 40 countries. Approximately
60% hold Lithuanian passports. A significant proportion of the
students in this cohort are dual citizens. Others are from expatriate families representing
business professionals, diplomats and NGOs, most of whom are
originally from European countries.
Our School Programmes
Early Childhood
VIS offers a play-based programme guided by the principles and practice of the IB PYP. VIS was authorised in 2011.
Primary Years Programme
Our IB PYP is based in inquiry and conceptual understanding with equal attention given to developing skills and attitudes beneficial for success in an uncertain world.
Middle Years Programme
The IB MYP serves students from grade 6 through 10. VIS is the first MYP school in Lithuania. We were authorised in 2013.
Cambridge International AS&A Levels
CIE is considered a gold standard with respect to education programmes. It is offered in over 10,000 schools in 160 countries. VIS students are prepared for the challenges to come thanks in part to this programme.
From the Nest
Vilnius International School celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. We took an opportunity to recognise the 25% of our staff who have been working at VIS for more than ten years. We grew from just 25 children in a kindergarten outside to town to a thriving community of over 500 students and 85 staff members hailing from 42 countries.
Points of pride this school year include academic achievements such as Tomas B. who achieved the highest mark in the world for his work on Digital Media and Design, to Arsenii T. for being the first VIS student to be accepted to Cambridge University for studies in engineering.

Stork Talk - Our Global Migration
Like storks that migrate 20,000 km to and from Lithuania, each member of our VIS community brings unique cultural treasures to our VIS nest. Our grade 6 international students - Helena G., Matvey T., Jan J., and Alistair C. shared that they contribute "hospitality, a sense of giving, and a British accent to our nest." VIS is committed to creating a learning environment where every student's background is celebrated and integrated into our collective experience.

Upcoming Events: Connect, Learn, and Celebrate
VIS prides itself in its traditions such as the September 1st celebration that brings our entire community together in the school courtyard. This event is sacred to VIS in that it signifies our confidence in the potential of all of our learners from the very beginning of their journey. .
Over the years, other events have evolved to mark our school year. These include the Fun Run for Charity in Bernadine Gardens, the Flea Market and Family Picnic, Model European Parliament Baltic Region, and most recently, the holiday laser show and mini-Week Without Walls.
